Bachelorette Party - Halloween Style

And so the Bachelorette party weekend came to an end. As mentioned earlier, my friend Kara is getting married in December, so this past weekend we hosted her bachelorette party at my house. It was a very estrogen filled weekend, to say the least.

The seven girls arrived on Friday. Since everyone arrived from different cities at different times, we spent the night lying around the living room and catching up. Saturday after a breakfast of fancy foods and mimosas, we went to a belly dancing class. Seriously. It was hilarious (when, of course, it shouldn't have been). The class was just our party, so we were allowed to laugh at one another and be a bit goofier than we normally would be. The teacher didn't mind; in fact, she was impressed with out quickly we caught on. None of us were amazing at the shimmying, the hip popping, or the belly rolling, but we tried and had a fun time along the way. I kind of want to take another class now.

That night was the Halloween party and yes, I was Catwoman.
(Meow)

I wore Megan's black unitard that she performs aerial silks in (which was, needless to say, very awkward since it was tight and revealing). Over it I had my knee high black books, ears I cut out and sewed to a headband, and a small mask cut from a masquerade style mask. The whip around my waist is actually my brother's from his 6th grade Indiana Jones Halloween costume. And yes, it actually makes the cracking sound. I channeled the Adam West Style Catwoman.

The rest of the girls had fantastic costumes. We all have experience sewing leotards for circus (yes, they were all circus girls), so our Halloween costumes tend to be pretty intricate. We were, of course, quite the hit of the party.

Downtown, we saw many interesting costumes. Every girl was a sexy version of something, which was kind of disappointing. I wanted creativity! There were quite a few Jokers, so I had company. Our friend Traci was Shawn Johnson and she pulled it off wonderfully. Sadly, we only stayed at the club for a little over two hours, even though we were having a blast, because the bachelorette had a bit too much to drink. All I'm saying is thank goodness she was wearing a sit harness.

Back at home we stayed up late giggling and gossiping. I passed out around two a.m. and woke up drowsy with a slight headache. The bachelorette woke up not remembering a thing.

Yes, she definitely had a great bachelorette party.

Meg did an amazing job on her costume, it's so detailed!! She should wear it at a comic convention and she'd definitely win the costume contest ;)

You make the very best Catwoman ever! You did a great job channeling the Adam West style, and you're super hot :D

All the girls look like they put a lot of thought and time into their costumes and you guys look like you had a bunch of fun!! Great job on the bachelorette party planning!

P.S. - can we please do a belly dancing class together?? That'd be so much fun!
