Catch Up

I'm pretty sure this past week has been the longest time I've gone without blogging.

Sad, isn't it?

As an update, everything is going well! I'm on a non-stop job search while trying to find freelance writing/blogging jobs for on the side. We'll see how this all goes. At the same time, I'm trying to gather a more professional portfolio of writing samples so I can try to submit articles to magazines. We'll see how that goes. Needless to say, I'm on a writing rampage.

Also, I created this: http://laurengibaldi.com

Once again, I'm having domain name issues, but I have time to work on that. Google pages is a bit harder to work with than blogger. The site itself is almost finished, I just need to add a picture of myself and more writing samples. I'm pretty pleased with it so far. Verdict?

Other than the job search, my days consist of fighting with the roommate's cat to get off my bed, hearing the same background music constantly as Jeff or Hunter try to beat a video game, wheezing during work out routines with Megan, and finishing up on holiday shopping. Job or no job, I'm still buying people gifts. I love buying people gifts.

This past week Samir came down and we celebrated an early Christmas. Before unwrapping presents and goofing around for hours, we saw an advanced screening of Slumdog Millionaire. As predicted, it was pretty great. We tried to recreate an amazing chase sequence here with Samir jumping over me and my camera at the playground. It isn't quite the same, but if you pretend evil dooers are chasing him, you almost get the idea. So yes, we had a lovely early holiday.

Saturday night I attended a lovely holiday party at Colure and Kevin's apartment. For the second year in a row, we created an epic gingerbread house that was sadly crushed moments later. I suppose that's the price for true art. As for this week, I'm continuing my quest, continuing my writing, and, with persuasion, continuing my work out routine. Some friends are home for the holidays, so it'll be nice to catch up with them. This all starts tomorrow - I'm doing lunch with Colure, Katie, and Paola. We sound so hollywood.

Ok, so you are my twin right now. I'm trying to find some freelance work as well, and researched making a website last night!

I am trying to decide between googlepages and wordpress. I don't know. Did you look into both? If so, what made you choose google? I really like the site, and look forward to reading some of your writing.

We should gchat about this because it seems to be something we both have in common!

I like the website, but to be honest, I'm not a fan of the colour palette. It's a little drab, which doesn't do you justice. Your writing is fun and vibrant and full of life, and the colours for your site should reflect that, in my opinion!

I'm glad you're not letting this get you down and you're already back up on that horse looking for more work.

Also curious, is the Testaments series still a project you're considering publishing?

I like the web site, especially the photo of that little squirrel figurine. Nicely done.

There's a picture of a little girl on that webpage. Just making sure you know that.

I thought you were older.

I'm loving that you have an online portfolio now. I bought a domain last week and haven't started work on it because I have NO idea where to begin!

Kudos to you for getting it together!
