A couple of weeks ago, Deirdre was moved upstairs to a different office. It's irritating mostly because she's my best friend at work, the person I complain/gossip/chat the most with. And with our company cracking down on AIM conversations, we rarely talk during the day. So, to remedy this, I decided to bake a pie for us instead of complain.
I want that to be my way of thinking for the rest of the year. Things happen, but rather than complaining, I want to do something about it. Something better. Make the best of a situation. It will never snow in Florida, my co-worker will continue to insult me, the cats will always favor my bed even though they're aware that i'm allergic, and the light off my street will always be red when I approach it. I won't get a raise this year, my nail polish will still chip after two days, the remote control will always be on the other side of the room. I'll get over it, all of it. Because, really, what good does complaining do? If anything, it makes the situation worse. So bring it on. I'll have the crust and pumpkin mix ready.

Mmmm pumpkin pie. *drool* But, hey, at least it's still in the 70s during November in FL. I mean, to me, that sounds awesome.
YUMMM pumpkin pie!!! I bet it was quite tasty :D We should bake when you come over tonight! <3
I adore your attitude.
It's not an easy one to maintain all of the time, but I really agree with you here. Better to do something to make you feel better than to be upset.
I hope you enjoy the pie!
it is my sincere belief that pie makes everything better :)
This post? I totally needed to read it right now. In leu of layoffs at my paper and crazy economic times, I need to remember that instead of complaining to DO something about it. And baking a pie sounds like a lovely way to do that.
Thank you.
I'm with Kyla. You have a great outlook. Bring on the pie.
If you happen to make a pecan pie, could you mail me a slice? Thanks.
poodlegoose - It IS and isn't awesome. I'd like it to be a bit chilly!!
Colure - I loooove pumpkin pie!
Kyla - Thank you! No, it's not easy to maintain...but I really want to be able to.
dmb5_libra - I concur!
EP - Oh I'm so glad you liked it! It's hard to look on the bright side sometimes, but it's better. Good luck with your pie :)
Mermanda - Thank you!
Arjewtino - DONE!
I like your attitude! I need the bring it on attitude today. It's snowing quite a bit and I have to drive 45 minutes away, which will now be closer to 2 hours for sure. Crap.
And isn't the remote control being across the room sort of appropriate, by name? Or would it be a "remote out-of-control"? Maybe a "too remote to control"?
I like that philosophy. "Don't whine, just bake a pie!"
If pumpkin pies can really improve spirits (and they do) maybe we should use them in the Middle East. Do you think that could work? Does Bin Laden like pie?
Bring it on? It's already been broughten.
pie solves everything.
so does ice cream.
Women and ice cream. I swear, it's the key that unlocks every locked door. I can think of several situations where a girl has been upset or something, and when I mention "ice cream," they give me this look that says, "You get me."
Dan - Oh Dan. You and your word play. :)
Larissa - Exactly! It should be a poster. Hehe.
Andy - Great idea! I'm sending some pies east!
rs27 - Bahahaha. Nice.
Katelin - Agreed.
Dan - Dan, you've just learned the universal secret to all women. Ice cream heals EVERYTHING!
I have had pumpkin pie exactly once. I was about 10. My step mum made it. It was yummy :-) Unfortunately my step mum is no longer around to make it.
Claire and I made Pumpkin Creme Bruelee this year instead of pie...it was frigg'n nice.
