Yes, that's me eating cookie dough. Chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough to be exact. My mom let me start eating batter at a young age and even as reports surface saying how horrid it is, I'll keep eating it. It's way too delicious and it hasn't hurt me yet. Anyway, rather than stressing and crying about my situation I decided to make delicious treats. Notice how happy I look.
I used to make around four dozen cookies at a time. Half i'd leave at home for my roommates and I, while the other half went to my office. I knew my co-workers would appreciate it and they always did. The thing is, today I didn't do that. Instead, I halved the recipe and only made around 20 cookies. 20 cookies just for me.*
So I'm okay. I have enough in savings to support myself for a bit and Monday i'll file for unemployment. I started searching the internet for freelance writing gigs today** because hopefully those will be easier to find than a full time job. The full time job search starts tomorrow.
As for tonight, I'm going to enjoy the baked goods and a movie. I'm thinking Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire because it's fun and my favorite from the franchise (and not because of Edward's appearance in it.)***
But right now? I'm fine. The tree in my backyard that shockingly went from green to red last week lost all of its leaves yesterday. But I know as the seasons change they'll grow back. They always do.
* - And the roommates. I'm not THAT gluttonous. I promise.
** - If anyone knows of any opportunities, PLEASE let me know!
*** - Of course it's because of Edward's appearance in it.

My word, Robert Pattinson is hot as Cedric. I think it's something about the hogwarts uniforms that really works for me.
Also, I was so sorry to hear about your job. Good luck with the hunt--I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
I loveeeee cookie dough. But not as much as I adore you.
Let me know how freelancing goes. I'm trying to get into that as well. I know of some good freelancing and writing blogs, so let me know if you want any of that information!
hang in there! To kill time when I was unemployed, I started blogging. See, you already have a productive pastime!
And raw cookie dough is better than alcohol for the unemployed-blues :) so stick with the dough
I love cookie dough :)
Mmmm, cookie dough! Wouldn't mind some of that myself...
Good luck with the freelancing. I'm planning on going freelance in a few years, but as a translator not a write so can't help you with finding freelance writing jobs. Maybe something with writing reviews? I'm sure of I've heard of freelancers doing that?
Cookie dough is one of my favorite treats, too. And baking calms/soothes me whenever I'm having a bad day.
I hope you got to watch HP. I've been watching it because it's a Harry Potter weekend on ABC Family. And that makes me feel a lot better, even though I'm sick. *shrugs*
I am so sorry to hear what happened!!!
Cookie dough is yummy. I never knew it could be bad for me and by the time I found out it was too late. I'm hooked! :)
That movie is also my fav of the series!
Lauren, I'm so sorry to hear about this. I'm glad you are pampering yourself while you seek new employment. I'll let you know if I hear of any freelance work... in the meantime, I suggest contacting your university's alumni magazine with some story ideas. xo
Can we please bake those cookies?? OMG they look so good :D And forget all those warnings about cookie dough!! It's too yummy to be bad for you ;) Ha!
I'm sorry you lost your job, but I'm glad that you're taking it in stride and not letting it get you down. Chocolate chip cookies will often give you that new perspective and make things seem better. Mmm, cookies.
That sounds so delicious!
I always just want to have a relaxing night with girlfriends gorging on different types of batter.
Do you remember that episode in the first season of Friends where Rachel was really depressed for some reason or another, and all the girls sat around drinking and eating? That's my ultimate night! Monica sat on the comfy chair in her pjs, big bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough and a wooden spoon- now that's the life! :)
PS- Good luck finding a job!
I'm so sorry to hear about the job, but looks like your handling unemployment pretty well so far!
For your next baked good, I recommend a funfetti cake. What's better than sprinkles AND frosting?
You do look very happy miss, that makes be feel better =)
Enjoy the cookies! And good luck with the freelancing, and the full time job hunting, I will send all the good vibes I can your way!
cookie dough and rob pattinson can make any day a little bit better.
hope you're staying fabulous and i'm sending the employment vibes your way too :)
Cookie dough -- one of my favorite treats as well!
Sorry to hear about the layoff -- you may check into contract companies, like Volt. Sometimes they can hook you up with employers that don't want to hire full-time employees but will contract you out for a designated period of time. And, you can usually make more many that way too.
Trader Joe's makes this fantastic cookie dough. I don't think I've ever actually baked it, not once!
