This morning while eating a bowl of Cheerios, I flipped through the channels on TV and came upon a preview for Yes Man, the movie where Jim Carey has to say yes to everything (now on DVD!). When it originally came out in theatres, I figured it was just going to be another heartless movie where Carey would do crazy things to show that he was, oh yes, crazy. Upon watching the trailer today, seeing him bungie jump and dress as Harry Potter, I realized it was something different. Maybe even...something cool.
I'm not really known for changing my daily routine too much right now. Wake up, go to work, go home, eat, read, TV, write, call Samir, sleep. On Wednesdays I go to Colure's house. On Thursdays, Megan and Hunter's. The weekends are totally unpredictable in a predtictable way. I feel like i've gotten myself in a rut. I don't like having a routine. Sure, sometimes it's nice, like knowing a friend will be waiting for you before class by the tree without calling or reminding him, but nowadays it's just boring. I don't like being predictable.
So, that's why I'm going to do something about it. I used to be much more adventurous, much more exciting- I want to bring back old Lauren. I want to start saying yes to things (within boundaries, of course. I'm not becoming Lewis Carroll, no worries), fun things. I want to explore, try new things, go to new places. And so...I will.
This weekend I'm going to do one new thing. After that? Who knows. Maybe I'll try something different weekly! As simple as going to a museum or difficult as taking a dance class, I want it all.
Let's just hope this desire lasts. Who knows - I may be climbing mountains next.

You should join the circus.
Wait.
I hope you go watch the movie. Yes Man was REALLY funny and REALLY worth watching. AND, I hope you do something new as well!
Good for you! It's always fun to try new things!
I've been wanting to see that movie but haven't gotten a chance yet.
Dude, for like, a few years now we've talked about taking weekend adventures - going hiking or rock climbing or biking or whatever... and we haven't done any!!! Let's do some, please?? :D
I didn't think I'd want to see that movie, but my boyfriend loved and suggested it! (still haven't seen it though, ha ha).
