Thursday, after a layover in Baltimore I took a taxi from LGA to my cousin's apartment on the Upper West Side. My dad called to make sure I got there okay, which was cute because even though I've traveled Europe on my own, he still worries. My cousin Amanda and I met up with Samir's sister Anu and her new boyfriend at Junior's Deli for a quick bite. My chicken salad sandwich was incredibly delicious.
After, Amanda and I went to see "The Little Mermaid!" As mentioned, my high school friend Andrew plays Prince Eric so it was absolutely essential for me to catch him in his first Broadway role. Since he's made quite a name for himself within the Disney channel pre-teen world, I even heard girls swooning as I passed his poster in front of the theatre. WEIRD.

The show was absolutely adorable. The sets and costumes were FANTASTIC and Andrew was amazing! I really loved some of the new songs added and the old ones made me remember the days of Justin and I in the pool pretending to be mermaids. All of the mermaids wore those sneaker/skates to immitate gliding and I kind of wanted to steal a pair for myself. After, Amanda and I got to go backstage. Andrew had our name at the cast entrance and we felt pretty special passing all of the screaming fans (seriously). Incidentally, another high school friend was at the show as well, Kim. (If you saw Sex and the City the movie, she was the waitress in the Valentine's Day scene). Andrew came out and we took pictures on the stage and then, later, watched him sign all of the screaming girls' autographs outside. Later, the lot of us hung out at a bar-it was nice catching up with my high school friend.

The next morning, Amanda, her husband Max, and I drove out to Long Island where I met up with my parents. That night was my cousin Ryan's rehearsal dinner! Expecting a normal laid back dinner, I was quickly taken by surprise by the fancy steakhouse venue, the cocktail hour, the centerpieces, the assigned tables and the five course meal. People on the Island do it up, I suppose. My brother and I sat with two other people who we've met before and actually had a great time. We were worried, of course, since we didn't know anyone other than family, but our table was fantastic. The waiter loved us always served us first (both food and drinks), we took hilarious pictures, and we just goofed around a lot. Nice way to start the nonstop family time.

The tooth cake is freaking me out.
Looks like a good time. I'm hoping to make it up to NYC for the first time this year. Any suggestions on where to go?
What an awesome trip! I can't wait to see more pictures!
Just try to remember to grab a bit of Andrew's hair next time. That's all I'm saying.

Sounds like a fantastic time! I was in NYC for the first time 2 weeks ago and my friend and I were going to see The Little Mermaid but then decided to see Chicago!
OK, I may be in Paris but I'm still INSANELY jealous that you got to go to NYC! And you got to set foot on a Broadway stage... I'm incredibly, incredibly jealous. But that was really nice of you, to go see your friend's show and all the pictures are great!
Congrats for your friend Andrew, that's a huge accomplishment. Little Mermaid is one of my favorite tales growing up :) I'm glad you had an awesome weekend.
I adore New York! Looks like you had a great time.
