Saturday morning we went out to Northport on Long Island to meet up with my Aunt and Uncle on the paternal side. We walked around the old streets and took in the beautiful breezy weather. For lunch we had chicken salad sandwiches and eggcreams at a diner that opened in 1929. We also found an old pub that Kerouac used to drink in.
The wedding that night was beautiful. Traditional Jewish with a large white chuppah lined with roses. My cousins stammered through the Yiddish vows and then broke the glass. There was much rejoicing and I even got a little teary eyed. But all tears were tossed aside for Hava Nagila! Not that I've been planning it, but when I do get married, I'm so looking forward to that song/dance/chair lift.
The reception, along with the ceremony, was held at an extremely fancy country club on the Island. The cocktail hour was spread out in three rooms; it sort of felt like the board game Clue. The white wine is the conservatory with the bartender. Much like the previous night, Justin and I felt somewhat awkward not knowing many people, especially when we realized that we were sitting at a table full of strangers. But, still, we made our fun. Amanda found me and we danced the night away with her husband, Max, who gives Samir a run for his money when it comes to crazy dancing. (Max circled the dance floor doing the shopping cart and that was only after he did a better Beyonce impression than every girl there during "Single Ladies"). The food was okay (the main meal was either mahimahi, duck, or steak - three foods I don't eat), but the desert was amazing. I almost called for seconds, until I realized that it was rather uncouth. All in all, it was a very beautiful wedding and reception and I'm very happy to have a new cousin-especially considering I've known her for, oh, nine years.

Two more weddings coming up! And hopefully, at some point, another trip to New York! Only this one with less celebration and more pizza.

One cannot get enough trips to NY and certainly can't get enough NY pizza! Great pictures!
Love the pictures. That wedding dress looks gorgeous.
Great pictures at the wedding, usually wines and cocktails may help in a room full of strangers. :)
I haven't been to Northport in at least a year, but man that brings back memories. I used to go sailing there with friends, and the sweet shop is a place I've been to several times.
Aww, Northport. How cute!
