It's been a rather exciting week. For starters, HDS has BlogHer ads! Woo! If anyone else is using them, please let me know how you like them. Incidentally, the first one I saw was for Legos. Yes, I think we'll get along just well...
Second, this upcoming Sunday I'm going to be published in the Orlando Sentinel! I wrote a short piece a while ago on my trip to Milan and submitted it for their travel section. I just found out that this Sunday they're publishing it. I'm pretty excited because, of all the local newspapers and magazines, this isthe one I've been trying to get into for a bit now.
Third, Friday Samir and I are leaving for Miami to go to...a book fair! (Okay, and to visit friends, but mostly the book fair). It's a week long event, but sadly I couldn't get off work for the whole thing. There are a bunch of panel discussions and author readings (including Meg Cabot, John Hodgeman, and Sherman Alexie) - needless to say, it should be entertaining.
Last, I just learned the best perk of working for a travel/lifestyle magazine. The free stuff. In two weeks, Samir and I are going on a cruise! The Oasis of the Seas is launching in December; they invited a representative from my magazine to check it out early. So, In two weeks, Samir and I get two nights aboard it. We're not stopping anywhere, but hey, it's completely free and I've never been on a cruise before. Rumor has it - there might be acrobatics.

Free things are the best! With my past internship I got a new pair of ASICS, an awesome cookbook, free tickets to a dinner theatre show, free tickets to a burlesque show, and an unlimited supply of Starbucks coffee cards. It was great. Have fun on your cruise!
