Here's the thing, I honestly don't know music. If you look at my iPod, it's full of songs from, oh, before 2006. It's not that I don't like music - who doesn't like music? - i'm just too lazy to keep up with it. I used to have a favorite album of the month - I used to collect songs by the minute. But then...I lost interest. Sure, I listen to the radio, and sure Samir supplies me with plenty of songs which I add to my itunes playlist and listen to while doing other things, but nothing has really grabs me. A song here or there, a relatable line or catchy tune, but I can't really name a favorite album. So, instead, I'll say this: According to my "most played" list on iTunes, as of this year I've liked "Bruises" by Chairlift and "This Tornado Loves You" by Neko Case the most. As for band, Art Brut is on there quite a bit. I also really liked some Christmas music, apparently.
December 11 - The Best Place
Three places:
1. Borders by my parent's house. I've loved this borders since I was 15 years old. Then, a place to find monologues for performances, now a sanctuary for my friends and I to gab about the day's events. I love being surrounded by books and good conversation.
2. Spice, a steakhouse/bar not far from our apartment. I always like having "a place," as in a normal place to drink at. I haven't had one in a bit, with friends moving and places changing. We've recently discovered this venue and it's quite nice. Inside, chic and colorful with an acoustic act on weekends, while outside crisp and clear, along the street of Park Avenue. Oh, and drinks are ridiculously cheap.
3. The fountain by my apartment. Not far from us is one of those flat waterfountains that kids run through. It's really quite neat: water pops up from the ground in various patterns. It never stops and is, in a way, incredibly soothing. Whenever I have a bad day Samir brings me there. It's relaxing and wonderful. It's my spot.

Even as a true blue music head, I still find it hard to find MY songs. You know? Songs that you're absolutely in love with and can listen to all the time without getting bored.
Ps. I love Borders. Sadly we have none here :(
Art Brut is awesome!! I love "Nag Nag Nag", and maybe also "Emily Kane" because I can sing my own name along :)
Best Album: Ray Lamontagne - Till the Sun Turns Black
The Best Place: A little italian coffee shop called Caffe Umbria. It overlooks a tree-lined, brick road in the oldest part of Seattle. The store gives you a piece of rich italian chocolate with your coffee and it has the most amazing choices of sandwiches like buffalo mozzerella, tomato and proscuitto on a baguette and to top it off, the sandwich is paired with marinated olives.
The food combined with the calm atmosphere make it my favorite place to relax midday.
