Scene: I'm reading a book and laying on the bed. Samir is next to me with his head under the pillow.
Me: Ostriches?
Samir: Yeah! It must suck to be them.
This, my friends, is what I live with.
If you haven't noticed yet, HDS has gone ad happy. That's right, HDS is officially accepting ads, but only by companies I really like and typically support myself. Like Borders? Of course I'll promote them, I already do. And Kodak gallery? Yeah, I have one of those. Audible? Heck, Ira Glass supports Audible, why wouldn't I? Anyway, the reason behind my new ads is that money is...not good right now. Instead of getting the raise I was promised last week, I learned that my company isn't doing that well (I swear I'm bad luck) and instead of giving any of us raises, we're all getting hours docked. Yep. So now i'm working 32 hours a week and Samir is still diligently searching for a jobs. There's hope i'll be back to full time come January, but with paying back my loans, paying for tuition, and, of course, normal monthly expenses, money is extremely tight. We've been eating a lot of macaroni and cheese.
We're not losing hope, though. It's just a period, a small blip on a long timeline. Things will be okay. But as for now, I'm searching for freelance work and hoping ads generate some revenue (feel free to click them! Or if you're already ordering something through them, why not go through my site?). Wish me luck?
On a happier note, I got straight As this semester!

Congrats on the straight A's! I feel ya on the money. Life is hard right now.
Haha, Samir's awesome! Sorry to hear about the job situation.
I agree with you on ads. I've had some people email me about advertising, but I had to turn them down because I don't use their products. Don't want feel like your cheating your fans, y'know.
I'll click any ads for you to help a little bit. Keep the spirits up, you're right this is just temporary. Wishing you and Samir all the luck :)
Ps. Congrats for the straight A's. Wish I was as brainy :)
I am sorry to hear of your job situation. Something similar happened to my girlfriend recently this year. I know the law job market is tough too. I hope things look up for the both of you!
You are not alone. I constantly walk into my bedroom and find my husband playing ostrich. I can't help but smile at the 5 year old cuteness :)
Congrats on the straight As! How exciting!

Move to Seattle. I'll find you a job. Talk to you on Christmas.
