It’s not a stretch to say this world we live on is a pretty incredible place and until traveling to other planets and galaxies is possible (outside of film fantasies), it’s the most fascinating place we know. You could spend your entire lifetime scouring the Earth for all its wonders and you wouldn’t even scratch the surface… but it’s still fun to try!
Below is a list of five must-see scenes in the world that you should definitely check out in your lifetime. Use it as a starting point to inspire future travel and realize why once you start exploring it’s almost impossible to stop!
In the Sky
Of all the phenomena on Earth, few are as mind-blowing as the Northern Lights. This wonder can be found in many of the northern countries around the world, including Canada, Norway, Sweden and Russia, so you’ll have ample opportunity to check them out as part of a bigger travel adventure. Often difficult to plan for, the northern lights are best enjoyed in the winter and, obviously, on clear nights, but will definitely be one of the most memorable things you’ll do in your life.
In the Sea
If you head to northeastern Australia and venture out on a boat, you can take in the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef – the largest grouping of coral in the world that is home to countless fish and aquatic species. Whether you scuba dive or snorkel, seeing the reef isn’t difficult but due to global warming, they are threatened – don’t put it off too long!
On the Land
Head to the United States of America and check out the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon. It may be hard to believe, but it was all made by a river working long and hard over centuries, slowly carving out the giant canyon known the world over. Stop and stare or join a group that heads down to the bottom – either way, it’s a journey to remember!
With the Animals
With so many animals to choose from on this planet it’s hard to know where to start, but few places are as special as the Galapagos Islands off the coast of Ecuador in South America. It is here that you’ll see many species of animals that exist nowhere else on Earth, from blue-footed boobies to giant tortoises. The sad thing is, human involvement is changing the ecosystem, so be sure if you visit to take the proper precautions!
Made by Man
Humanity has created some ridiculously grand wonders in the world but few can match the size and scope of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. Having been standing for thousands of years as a testament to power and will, you may visit Egypt for the Pyramid but you’ll likely stay for the countless other wonders. You won’t regret it.
