Hong Kong is one of those places that offers a little bit of everything. Do you love to take in the sights? Does your travel companion prefer to go shopping? It’s not a problem! Hong Kong, located on the south coast of China, is one of the most diverse and beautiful cities in the world. Full of both traditional and modern element, it is truly a place to experience. Best of all, there are things for every type of traveller to do and experience. Here are few to point you in the right direction.
For the Sightseers:
Every family has that one person that wants to see everything. Every view, every museum, every attraction…. yes, absolutely everything. Thankfully there is plenty to see in Hong Kong. The sightseer in your group can head to Victoria Peak. This place provides travellers with a spectacular view of the city. You can spend some time looking at the picturesque harbour and the unforgettable skyline. Other great spots to visit are the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade (where you can take a relaxing walk along the waterfront), Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple (a Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian temple that honours a monk), and the iconic Clock Tower. With so much to see, you’ll have to make the most of your time there!
For the Culture Enthusiasts:
If your travellers would rather soak up a little Hong Kong culture, then check out the traditional cuisine. There are many restaurants, including Above & Beyond – which serves dinner and provides a view of the Victoria Harbour. China Club and Island Tang have traditional Cantonese items on the menu and are both very popular dining destinations. While you’re in Hong Kong, you may also want to visit a teahouse. One step back in time is the Lin Heung Tea House, where you can enjoy some unforgettable dim sum.
For the Shopaholic:
There is nothing like doing a little shopping while you’re away. The good news is that Hong Kong has an awful lot of places to choose from. For something a little more mainstream, the IFC Mall is a great place to start. It has shops like Dior, Aigle, Chow Sang Sang, and Givenchy. If you’d rather shop at a local market, there is the Ladies Market, which has clothes and jewellery, as well as the Temple Street Night Market, which has a raft of odds and ends.
For the Family:
Are you taking the kids along with you? Then you’re in luck, because there are many attractions that will keep them interested. Perhaps the most notable is Hong Kong Disneyland. This Disney park has many of the same attractions as Disneyworld and Disneyland, but it also has rides that are unique to the park, like Mystic Manor. If you don’t want to pay the Disney prices, there is also Ocean Park Hong Kong. It has amusement park rides as well as a full aquarium. It is great for older kids (and parents) to enjoy!
If you’re planning on taking a trip to Hong Kong, you certainly won’t run out of things to do. Make the most of your experience by finding something for everyone to enjoy!
